Information

Free of charge, Heritage Open Days is an event for everyone.

Co-ordinated nationally by the Civic Trust in partnership with English Heritage, the event thrives on the enthusiasm and expertise of local people. Thousands of volunteers from all walks of life share their knowledge and memories with some 850,000 visitors every year, making Heritage Open Days England's largest voluntary cultural event.

For a town of its size, Abingdon has a large number of historic buildings. Heritage Open Days are an opportunity to visit some of the buildings free of charge, with helpful guides to answer questions and pass on information.

This year we are celebrating Abingdon looking to the future. Twickenham House, the County Hall, and the Almshouses are all being adapted to life in the 21st Century in different ways. A good place to start this year will be on the Market Place, which was remodelled in 2007. From there you can find the shortest routes to the places you would like to visit
